Physiotherapy and Heart Health

Did you that Physiotherapist can improve your heart health?

Thankfully preventative healthcare is becoming more of a trend. Why not aim to reduce your cardiac risk factors prior to sustaining a cardiac event?

This is a cause near and dear to my heart as I have family members that have suffered heart attacks in their 30's. Genetic predisposition is something that is not modifiable, however, many other risk factors can be reduced.  So if you have been dealt a bad genetic hand in this regard, like myself, it is important to maintain low risk factors in other categories.

Risk Factors you can change:

  • High Cholesterol (Total, LDL, Triglycerides)
  • High blood pressure
  • Smoking
  • Physical Inactivity
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Stress

Scientific studies have confirmed that a well implemented exercise program can reduce body mass in addition to lowering blood cholesterol and fatty acids, minimizing those artery blocking components floating through your bloodstream, preventing clogs from developing!
